INTAS MEASURES RECENTLY MADE AGAINST CORONA VIRUS (MAY 2020)

Measures that have recently been taken by the Iranian National Tax Administration (INTA) against the outbreak of Corona Virus (Covid-19) can be divided into two parts as follows:
A) Intra-Organizational Measures (On the side of Employees)
1) Maintaining the social distancing strategy and moving towards the next nation-wide stage, i.e. smart distancing;
2) Planning for the attendance of two-thirds of INTA’s employees in all tax offices;
3) Allowing employees with background or chronic diseases not to attend their work at the discretion of INTA’s trusted physicians.
B) Extra-Organizational Measures (On the side of Taxpayers)
1) Extending the due prescribed deadlines for the payment of tax liabilities in installments;
2) Extending the due prescribed deadlines for making objections against tax claims/decisions;
3) Sparing unpaid penalties imposed on tax amounts/liabilities;
4) Postponing the date of implementation of new Real Estates taxable values for the year 1399 (2020);
5) Accepting the real and legal persons’ cash or non-cash contributions to the medical centers as tax-deductible expenses;
6) Making a segmentation of businesses affected by the Covid-19 outbreak;
7) Extending the due deadlines for the payment of VAT charges;
8) Releasing taxpayers from the obligation of obtaining Certificates of Tax Payment as a requirement for the issuance or extension/renewal of Business Permits until June 20, 2020;
9) Suspending provisionally any enforcement operations to collect taxes in respect of producing enterprises affected by Covid-19;
10) Postponing the sessions of tax disputes settlement boards;
11) Extending the due deadlines to receive provisional certificates of registration with the VAT system;
12) Receiving taxpayers’ requests for sparing tax penalties and installment of their tax liabilities without requiring them to refer in person; and
13) Granting a longer time for the re-installment of taxpayers’ tax liabilities.
